Details: The ministry noted that on the night of 25-26 June, Russia once again attacked the south of Odesa Oblast with strike drones.

At 03:47, the National Military Command Centre issued an air-raid warning for residents in the north of Tulcea County.

At 03:57, an IAR 330 Puma helicopter from the Romanian Air Force took off to monitor the movement of aerial assets east of the city of Sulina, near the Ukrainian town of Vylkove.

The all-clear was given at 04:23. No violations of Romanian airspace or falls of aerial assets on Romanian territory were recorded.

Background:

  • In late May, a Russian Shahed (Geran-2) loitering munition crashed into the upper floor of a residential block in the border city of Galați and seriously damaged an apartment, marking the first such incident since the start of the full-scale war.
  • Bucharest subsequently closed the Russian consulate general and declared the Russian consul general persona non grata. Russia responded by first summoning Romania's ambassador, then closing Romania's consulate general in St Petersburg and declaring its consul general persona non grata.
  • At the beginning of June, a Ukrainian naval drone that went off course due to jamming by Russian electronic warfare systems exploded in the Romanian port of Constanța.
