Newspaper editor and owner Moses Beach was part of the famous 1867 tour group that encountered a landscape that wasn't exactly 'a land flowing with milk and honey'

In 1867, a group of American tourists took a pleasure tour to the Holy Land. The highlight was meant to be Jerusalem, "the Mecca of our travels." Moses Sperry Beach, an editor and now the owner of The New York Sun, took part in the expedition and published his impressions in his popular newspaper.
