- The battlefield situation is in constant flux with continued tactical exchanges of terrain on both sides. Ukrainian forces have conducted several small-scale counterattacks across the frontline, disrupting Russian offensive operations and slowing their rate of advance. An increasing Ukrainian ability to interdict Russian transportation nodes in rear areas with uncrewed aerial systems has likely been one of the enablers for Ukrainian success. Recent strikes on Russian logistics trucks in Donetsk city and along the hitherto largely untouched M-14 southern coastal highway, connecting Crimea with the Russian border east of Mariupol, are a new threat acknowledged by Russian military bloggers.
- Russian military activity has largely focused on assaulting major fortified Ukrainian urban areas such as Dobropillia, Vovchansk, Kostiantynivka. Progress has been slow and steady. Russian forces have been making some gains in the northern Ukrainian border regions of Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts seeking to create a 20km deep buffer zone and stretch Ukrainian forces. The situation in Kostiantynivka, currently controlled by Ukrainian forces, has been deteriorating with Russian units increasingly operating within the city itself. Russia sees Kostiantynivka as a launchpad for further assaults deeper into the Donetsk oblast fortress belt.
