Even if Israel is settling scores, recognizing the Armenian genocide is long overdue
Israel-Turkey relations have sunk to an unprecedented low, but Ankara views official recognition of the early 20th-century Armenian genocide as an unforgivable act. Could this be Erdogan's final straw before severing the remaining diplomatic ties?

"This isn't retaliation for Turkey's overt hostility, horrific rhetoric and hostile actions toward Israel under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's leadership," Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said of the cabinet's decision to recognize the Armenian genocide. "But the fact that Turkey promotes false narratives about Israel doesn't grant it immunity from the historical truth." Those harsh words are, in fact, true, and the cabinet did the right thing by recognizing the genocide.
