Ali Bagheri Kani, the deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, insisted the release of all frozen Iranian assets from the US, describing them as the “legal right” of the Iranian people.
Iran's frozen funds "must be released unconditionally", the Tasnim news agency quoted him as saying.
The broadcaster alleged the ships attempted the journey to enter the Persian Gulf “without coordination with the security forces” at 12:35 am local time.
Moscow and Kyiv have frequently attacked each other's ports and tankers since the start of the war. Neither country immediately claimed responsibility for the newly reported attack.
