Power outages in four regions due to Russian attacks

As of the morning of June 24, Russian shelling has left users without power in four regions, while severe weather has cut off electricity to 20 settlements in the Sumy and Kirovohrad regions.

According to Ukrinform, the NPC Ukrenergo reported this on Facebook.

“As a result of enemy strikes on civilian energy infrastructure facilities, as of this morning, consumers in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions are without power. Where safety conditions currently allow, emergency repair work has already begun," the statement reads.

Due to a thunderstorm and strong gusts of wind, 20 settlements in the Sumy and Kirovohrad regions were completely or partially without power as of this morning. Repair crews from regional power companies are already restoring the damaged power grids.

As of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, electricity consumption was 4.2% lower than the previous day’s level. The reason for this change is clear skies across Ukraine, which allow residential solar power plants to operate efficiently.

Ukrenergo advises shifting peak electricity consumption to the period when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently—from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.—and limiting the use of high-power electrical appliances between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
