A Russian drone briefly entered Romanian airspace on the night of 1-2 May amid Russian attacks on Ukrainian territory near the border.

Details: "In the early hours of Saturday 2 May, the Russian Federation resumed attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania. A group of twenty Russian drones was detected by the Ministry of National Defence's radar systems, moving towards Izmail (Ukraine)," the ministry said.
At around 02:00, two F-16 fighter jets on air policing duty took off from the 86th Air Base in Fetești.
The National Military Command Centre notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations that measures to alert the public in the northern part of Tulcea County had been initiated, sending an RO-Alert message at 02:03.
"Ground-based radar systems recorded a brief incursion by a drone into the country's airspace in the Kiliia area, after which it continued flying towards Izmail," the Ministry of Defence noted.
Multiple explosions were reported on the Ukrainian bank of the Danube River. The all-clear was given at 02:50. "The Ministry of Defence is keeping allied structures informed in real time about situations arising from these attacks and remains in constant contact with them," the ministry added.
Background:
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russian Shahed-type drones have repeatedly fallen on the Romanian bank of the Danube River or violated the country's airspace.
After the first such incidents, air-raid warnings began to be issued for border areas along the Danube River, and scrambling aircraft has since become routine.
In one case, a UAV resembling a Gerbera flew dozens of kilometres into Romania and crashed behind a residence.
