Tragedy, not murder: A clear distinction between war and crime

It's impossible not to be shocked by the disaster in Beit Shemesh earlier this week. A group of people put their trust in two places: a bomb shelter, on the recommendation of the Home Front Command, and a synagogue, by virtue of their faith in divine providence. Both betrayed them, and within a few short minutes the nine were dead from an Iranian missile. Parents and children, three siblings from one family – a heartbreaking tragedy. Nonetheless, the moment the reporting began, something grated on my ears. The reporters described those people as having been "murdered."
