Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed Law No. 12087-d on the integration of Ukraine's energy market with that of the European Union.
Details: This law aims to create a comprehensive legal framework for the full integration of Ukraine's electricity market into the EU's internal energy market.
It establishes the legal basis for coupling the "day-ahead" and intraday markets with European trading zones. Electricity trading will therefore be coordinated in terms of prices and volumes both for the following day and on the same day.
The law also implements the European model of risk preparedness in the electricity sector and introduces mechanisms to ensure capacity adequacy.
In addition, new ways to flexibly manage supply and demand will emerge, including aggregating small energy sources and controlling when and how much electricity consumers use.
Background: On 7 April, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted Law No. 12087-d on the integration of the energy markets of Ukraine and the European Union.
