The government's failure to curb rising crime in Israel's Arab society carries a heavy financial toll of 10–20 billion shekels ($3.3–6.7 billion) a year – equal to 0.5 to 1 percent of the country's GDP – according to an estimate published Monday by the Finance Ministry's Chief Economist Department.
