J.A. Group Appoints Former SH Defence CEO to Lead Ambitious International Expansion on Containerized Mission Payloads for Defence and the Commercial market

J.A. Group, owned by Kim Alfastsen, is gearing up for a major transformation of the newly acquired company LJ Industries. The company will be rebranded as “J.A. Solutions” and has appointed René Bertelsen as CEO to spearhead its transition into a global player.

J.A. Group press release

NYBORG, DENMARK – J.A. Group is entering a new era with the acquisition of LJ Industries, located at Lindholm Havnevej 38 in Nyborg. As part of a new strategic direction, the company will be renamed J.A. Solutions, aligning it with the identity of the rest of the J.A. Group portfolio.

To lead the transformation from a local service provider to an international product and service company, Kim Alfastsen has recruited a prominent industry figure: René Bertelsen, the former CEO of SH Defence.

“We are embarking on a journey to transform the business from producing equipment for our own fleet to becoming an international product-driven company with integrated services. Over the years, we have developed numerous containerized solutions for our own vessels, but we have never offered them to the open market until now,” says owner Kim Alfastsen.

World-Class Experience and Network

René Bertelsen brings more than 30 years of experience from senior positions at Wärtsilä, SH Group, and most recently, SH Defence. His extensive expertise in leadership, business development, and specifically containerized systems makes him the ideal candidate for the role.

“René possesses a robust international network and a unique market insight. We believe he is the perfect match to elevate J.A. Solutions to an entirely new level,” Kim Alfastsen adds.

Massive Production Capacity and Growth

J.A. Solutions operates out of impressive facilities in Nyborg, including a 7,400 m² production hall with full crane coverage, featuring material cutting, welding, hydraulic, and machine shops. Additionally, the site includes a 10,000 m² assembly hall.

For the new CEO, the foundation is solid, but the organization is set for significant expansion:

“This is an exciting new challenge, and I look forward to leading the company in a new direction within a growing market. Our first priority is to add layers to the organization, which will involve several new hires in both office and production roles to ensure a strong start,” says René Bertelsen

Product line

“Our main focus area is containerized solutions, so we are partnering up with several OEM´s to integrate their equipment into complete capabilities for dual use, commercial and defence. We will provide numerus di􀆯erent containerized solutions with equipment like drones for all three dimensions, Oil recovery, diving equipment, rescue equipment, Sensors and Weapons, MCM, minelaying, SOF equipment ect.” says René Bertelsen.

The first three standard containerized solutions will be on display at DALO Days in Herning at the 19-20th of august and again at Euronaval in Paris on the 3-6th of November.

“We are also in several dialogs regarding engineering and production support on “off set” requirements from foreign companies”, says René Bertelsen.

Four Strategic Business Areas

J.A. Solutions will focus on four core business segments:

  1. J.A. Service Solutions: Providing services for vessels, ports, and industrial sectors.
  2. J.A. Defence Solutions: Specializing in containerized solutions, handling systems,
    doors, and hatches.
  3. J.A. Maritime Solutions: Tailored solutions and equipment for the maritime industry.
  4. J.A. Underwater Solutions: Products and services dedicated to the energy sector and
    renewables.
  5. With in-house capabilities in R&D, Engineering, marketing, and sales, J.A. Solutions is ready to compete on the global stage.
