Russia carried out a large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine Monday-Tuesday, deploying drones, ballistic missiles, and guided aerial bombs against multiple regions, damaging homes and injuring civilians, Ukrainian officials said.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, waves of drones were detected between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. across at least ten regions, including Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Odesa, and Kharkiv.

At around 3:12 a.m., air raid alerts were issued nationwide over the threat of ballistic missiles. Ukrainian military monitoring later tracked high-speed targets headed toward Kharkiv and Cherkasy.
Additional guided aerial bombs (KABs) were launched toward Zaporizhzhia. Explosions were reported in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Cherkasy, though authorities said missiles targeting Cherkasy failed to reach their objectives.
Dnipro hit first
The city of Dnipro was among the first targets late on May 4. Regional authorities said three private homes were heavily damaged and a critical infrastructure facility was struck.
A 62-year-old man was injured in the attack. Emergency crews extinguished fires in residential areas, while several vehicles were damaged. An infrastructure site in the surrounding district was also hit.
