An overnight strike on a military base in Iraq’s western Anbar province has killed seven security personnel and wounded others, the defence ministry said, a day after the same site came under attack.
"This resulted in the death of seven of our heroic fighters and the injury of 13 others," the ministry said, adding the strike hit the base’s military healthcare clinic. Rescue efforts were still under way.
A security official said the base hosts police, army troops and Hashed al-Shaabi forces. The paramilitary group had blamed the United States for a separate strike on the site a day earlier.
