Ukrainian Defense Forces strike Russian oil refinery, 10 tankers, and four ferries in Sea of Azov

On July 11 and during the night of July 12, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Syzran Refinery in the Samara region of the Russian Federation, as well as 10 Russian tankers and four ferries in the waters of the Sea of Azov.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.

“On July 11 and during the night of July 12, as part of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck several important military, economic, and strategic targets of the enemy,” the General Staff stated.

️On the night of July 12, a strike was carried out against the Syzran Refinery in the Samara region of the Russian Federation.

Explosions and a fire were reported on the refinery’s premises. The extent of the damage and the results of the strike are being assessed.

As noted by the General Staff, the Syzran Refinery is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in the Samara region. The plant’s design capacity is approximately 8.5 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The facility produces automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation fuel, and other petroleum products used, in particular, to meet the needs of the Russian army.

Ten Russian tankers and four ferries in the waters of the Sea of Azov were also struck.

Tankers are used to transport Russian oil and petroleum products to circumvent international sanctions, while ferries provide military logistics and cargo transportation for the Russian army.

In addition, on July 11, an enemy train carrying fuel and lubricants was struck in the Tokmak area of the Zaporizhzhia region. A locomotive was confirmed to have been hit.

The results of the July 10 strike on the Novatek-Ust-Luga oil refining complex in Slobodka, Leningrad region, Russia, have also been clarified. An assessment of the damage confirmed that the oil refining facility was damaged.
