Ukraine's air defense forces neutralized 48 Russian missiles and 476 drones of various types during the overnight attack on July 2.
According to Ukrinform, the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
Beginning at 18:00 on July 1, Russian forces launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine using attack drones, as well as air-, land-, and sea-launched missiles of various types.
Kyiv was the primary target of the attack.
The Air Force noted that a key feature of the assault was the simultaneous use of multiple types of aerial weapons launched from different directions, including a large number of ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones.
According to the Air Force's radio-technical units, a total of 570 aerial attack weapons were detected, including 74 missiles and 496 drones of various types:
496 Shahed attack drones, Gerbera and Italmas drones, Banderol loitering munitions, and Parodiya decoy drones launched from Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), temporarily occupied Donetsk, and Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea.
The attack was repelled by fighter aircraft, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 09:00 on July 2, Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or electronically suppressed 524 aerial targets, including 48 missiles and 476 drones:
Preliminary reports indicate that, as of 09:00, Russian ballistic missiles and attack drones struck 33 locations, including impacts from 25 ballistic missiles and 12 attack drones. Debris from intercepted drones fell at 18 additional locations.
Information regarding several missiles is still being verified.
The Air Force notes that the attack is ongoing, with several Russian drones still present in Ukrainian airspace.
