Jerusalem is not only a symbolic city. It is also a living city. And cities must first and foremost remain livable for the people who actually live in them

On Thursday we celebrate Jerusalem Day, commemorating the reunification of the city. Indeed, 1967 brought with it a dramatically different urban development policy. Since then, nine major Jewish neighborhoods – Ramot, Ramat Shlomo, Neveh Yaakov, Pisgat Ze'ev, Ramat Eshkol, French Hill, East Talpiot, Har Homa and Gilo – have been established in areas that were captured by Israel from Jordan in 1967, during the Six-Day War and later incorporated into Jerusalem's municipal boundaries.
