"Jews and Crime in Medieval Europe" is the title of a recently published book by historian Ephraim Shoham-Steiner, from Ben-Gurion University. Appearing under the imprint of the academic publishing house Magnes (in Hebrew), the book deals with incidents involving theft, murder and prostitution in Jewish society in the Middle Ages. Shoham-Steiner draws on diverse sources from the period, mainly rabbinical writings, which he compiled diligently and proficiently; his new book is an expanded Hebrew version of an earlier English version with the same title.
