Hundreds of thousands of residents of southern Lebanon were forced to leave their homes on Thursday, a day after the IDF ordered them to do so as it announced plans to act forcefully against Hezbollah south of the Zahrani River (north of the Litani). The military declared the entire area a combat zone, including Tyre and the city's refugee camps. The announcements, and the situation on the ground, signal a severe escalation in the war in Lebanon. This escalation includes the recent assassinations in Beirut, which suggest they are meant to draw Hezbollah into an all-out war with Israel.
