Russian offensive pressure unchanged during “Easter ceasefire”, Ukrainian military says

The intensity of combat operations on the frontline during the so-called “Easter ceasefire” declared by Russia did not actually change, with Russian forces using certain periods to rotate and regroup.

This was stated on television by Viktor Tregubov, Spokesperson for Ukraine’s Joint Forces Grouping, Ukrinform reports.

“The overall intensity of Russian assault actions did not decrease at all – it remained at a standard level. Whether there was a ceasefire or not, if it hadn’t been mentioned on television, no one would have noticed. In fact, it was purely a political statement,” Tregubov said.

According to him, combat activity remained at a typical level on the Lyman, Kharkiv, and partly Sumy directions.

In areas with relatively fewer clashes, the invaders used the “ceasefire” period to bring in reinforcements, rotate troops, and restore their offensive potential, the spokesperson said.

“If we look at the Velykyi Burluk tactical area, which is relatively calm, they were not conducting active offensive operations there, but used this time to rebuild their forces, bring in new troops from the Russian Federation, and replenish personnel in units that had suffered heavy losses in previous fighting,” Tregubov explained.

As reported, according to Ukraine’s General Staff, 107 combat engagements between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian troops were recorded on the frontline over the past day, April 12. Since the announcement of the ceasefire, 10,721 violations by Russian forces have been documented.
