Thailand reaches deal with Iran to allow Hormuz oil transit, PM says

Thailand’s Prime Minister said he has reached an agreement with Iran to allow Thai oil vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to safeguard the country’s energy supplies, AFP reported.

Speaking to reporters, Anutin Charnvirakul said the deal would help ease concerns as Thailand relies heavily on oil imports from the Middle East, the report said.

Earlier this month, a Thai-flagged cargo ship was struck by unknown projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting risks to maritime traffic in the area.

Oman’s navy later rescued the crew, though three members remain missing, underscoring ongoing security concerns in the vital shipping corridor.
