He lies on his back in a hospital bed that his family arranged for him at home, his gaze fixed on the ceiling. Both his legs are immobile. Ismail Tmaizi, 60, is liable to remain paralyzed for the rest of his life, after a settler who encroached on his land shot him in the stomach from close range on June 5. The bullet exited from his back, but fragments struck his spine.
