A war will only backfire: Israel's once-in-a-generation opportunity in Lebanon
After the past 12 months, Lebanon has been free from the Syrian grip - and its leaders now oppose Hezbollah. The only way to restrain the terrorist organization is by strengthening Lebanese institutions of state and by increased competition

The Lebanese government has outlawed Hezbollah's military wing, condemned its aggressive conduct and removed the word "resistance" from the lexicon of the country's official media. One could argue that these are merely words rather than actions; after all, the Lebanese Army has yet to disarm Hezbollah, as the state committed to do in the cease-fire reached at the end of 2024.
