Ukrainian drones struck the Moscow region on the morning of June 30, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported on his Telegram channel.
Sobyanin began posting updates around 4 a.m. as air defenses shot down drones on approach to the capital. By the time of publication, he had reported 56 destroyed.
He reported no casualties or damage.
The airports of Domodedovo and Zhukovsky were closed because of the attack.
Update. Moscow region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said a private home in the Moscow suburb of Yegoryevsk caught fire after a drone came down on it. A six-month-old child was killed; one other child and two adults were hospitalized. According to Vorobyov, air defense forces shot down 60 drones over Domodedovo, Chekhov, Dubna, Kashira, Voskresenk, Pavlovsky Posad, Odintsovo, Bronnitsy, Ramenskoye, Stupino, Kolomna, and Yegoryevsk.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 419 Ukrainian drones overnight across 18 Russian regions and occupied Crimea. Residents of Tula, Novorossiysk, and Ryazan reported explosions.
The largest attack on Moscow occurred on June 18. At that time, nearly 200 Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian capital. A refinery caught fire in Kapotnya. In various cities of the Moscow region, 17 people were injured and an eight-year-old girl was killed as a result of the overnight attacks.
