Funding for subsequent option periods will utilise operations and maintenance funds from their respective fiscal years.

The ROTHR high frequency radar system provides long range surveillance for the US government in support of counter drug operations. Raytheon designs, builds, operates, and maintains the system.

In 2021, Raytheon obtained a $146m five-year contract in 2021 to continue its role operating and maintaining the US government’s ROTHR system.

Additionally, in 2023, the US Navy awarded Raytheon an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract valued at $87.5m for engineering and programme support services for the TPS-71 ROTHR at the Forces Surveillance Support Center.
