Russian attacks cause power outages in six Ukrainian regions, Sumy hit hardest

As of the morning of June 29, Russian attacks have left consumers without electricity in six Ukrainian regions, with the most difficult situation reported in the Sumy region.

According to Ukrinform, the information was released by Ukrenergo, Ukraine's national power grid operator, on Facebook.

"The enemy continues to attack civilian energy infrastructure. Following Russian drone strikes, the most difficult situation this morning is in the Sumy region, where the largest number of new power outages has been recorded. Consumers have also been left without electricity in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Poltava regions," the statement said.

Restoration work has begun wherever the security situation allows.

As of 9:30 on Monday, electricity consumption was 7.4% higher than on the previous working day, Friday, June 26. According to Ukrenergo, the increase is due to hot weather across Ukraine, which has led to widespread use of air conditioners.

The grid operator advises consumers to shift electricity-intensive activities to the period when industrial solar power plants are operating most efficiently – from 10:00 to 16:00.

"Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances and consume electricity as sparingly as possible during the evening hours, from 16:00 to 23:00. This is the period of peak demand on the power system during hot weather," Ukrenergo stressed.

As reported, no electricity consumption restrictions were planned in Ukraine on June 29.
