Russian attacks on Sumy region leave four killed, 11 injured over past day

In the Sumy region, four people were killed and eleven injured as a result of Russian strikes over the past 24 hours. In addition, a man was killed after stepping on a Russian mine.

According to Ukrinform, the National Police of Ukraine stated this on its website.

Communities in the Sumy, Shostka, Okhtyrka, and Konotop districts came under enemy fire throughout the day.

In the Sumy community, two women were killed and seven other people injured. A multi-story residential building, a medical facility, a kindergarten, and a business were damaged.

Another person was killed and one injured after a drone struck a vehicle.

In the Nova Sloboda community, a man was killed when a residential building was hit.

In the Popivka community, one person was injured, and warehouse facilities and agricultural machinery were damaged.

In the Hlukhiv community, one person was injured and a passenger car damaged.

In the Velyka Pysarivka community, a man was killed after detonating a Russian mine.

In the Berezivka community, a 76-year-old man was injured after a Russian drone struck a vehicle.

Private homes, a bus, a tractor, television equipment, an educational institution, vehicles, and other civilian infrastructure were damaged in several other communities.

Police investigative teams and explosives experts worked at the scenes. Law enforcement officers documented the consequences of the attacks and collected evidence of Russian war crimes.

Criminal proceedings were opened under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, added that in the morning an enemy drone hit a civilian car in the Stepanivka community. The vehicle caught fire. The driver was not inside at the time because he had stepped out to buy coffee, which saved his life.

According to Hryhorov, the man was injured and hospitalized, and doctors are providing the necessary medical assistance.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, on May 6 Russian drones attacked Sumy. Two UAVs struck a kindergarten building. Two employees were killed and seven people injured.
