Russian Strikes on Dnipro and Kharkiv Injure Civilians, Damage Buildings

Russian forces struck Kharkiv and Dnipro in the early hours of Tuesday, injuring civilians and damaging buildings as Ukraine faced a broader missile and drone attack across multiple regions.

In Kharkiv, Russian forces attacked two districts of the city, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.

According to Terekhov, an enemy drone hit an industrial zone in the Osnovianskyi district. Another strike was also recorded in the Slobidskyi district.

“As a result of the shelling of the Osnovianskyi district, there are casualties – their number and condition are being clarified. There is a fire at the site of the strike in the district,” Terekhov said.

73-year-old woman wounded in Dnipro

Russian forces also attacked Dnipro overnight, partially destroying a two-story building and causing a fire, according to Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration.

“One person was injured as a result of the enemy attack on Dnipro,” Hanzha said.

He identified the wounded civilian as a 73-year-old woman. She was hospitalized in a serious condition.

“Doctors are providing all necessary assistance,” Hanzha said.

The strike caused a fire at the damaged building, local authorities said.

Strikes came during wider attack on Ukraine

The attacks on Kharkiv and Dnipro came as Russia launched  a broader overnight assault involving missiles and drones.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russian forces had launched Kalibr cruise missiles toward Ukraine from the Caspian Sea. The military estimated that the missiles could enter Ukrainian airspace around 2 a.m. and urged residents not to ignore air raid alerts.

Russian Attack on Dnipro Kills 9, Including Child, Kharkiv Also Hit

Russian overnight strikes killed 9 people and wounded at least 35 in Dnipro, Ukrainian authorities said. The attack partially destroyed a two-story building and damaged apartments in a four-story building. Kharkiv was also hit in two districts as Russia launched a wider missile and drone assault across Ukraine, including Kalibr cruise missiles, ballistic threats, drone groups and strikes on Kyiv.

Later, air raid warnings were declared in Kyiv and a number of regions because of the threat of Russian ballistic weapons and drones.

Ukraine’s Air Force warned of ballistic threats from the east and northeast, groups of drones moving across multiple regions, missile attacks on Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, and cruise missile launches.

The Kyiv City Military Administration said enemy drones were in the skies over Ukraine and also reported activity by Russian strategic aviation and launches of cruise missiles from enemy ships.

“Please take care of your safety and use shelters,” the administration said.

Zelensky had warned of new massive strike

The latest overnight attack came after President Volodymyr Zelensky said intelligence warnings about possible Russian strikes remained in force and that Moscow was preparing another massive attack.

Zelensky said Ukraine was treating the reports seriously and that the country remained on high alert.

He also stressed that strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses and securing more interceptors remained one of Kyiv’s top priorities.
