Syria on Sunday said its forces repelled a drone attack launched from Iraq targeting a US military base in the country.
Deputy Defence Minister Sipan Hemo said on X: “Earlier today, the US base in Qasrak, located on our territory, was attacked by four drones launched from Iraqi territory."
“We hold Iraq responsible and call upon it to prevent the recurrence of attacks that threaten our stability,” he added.
The incident followed a similar reported drone attack a day earlier targeting the al-Tanf base in southeastern Syria. Armed groups in Iraq have previously claimed attacks on US interests in the region.
