UDF strikes Russian oil facility in Yaroslavl, 700 kilometers from border – Zelensky

Ukraine's Defense Forces struck an oil industry facility in Yaroslavl, Russian Federation, located 700 km from the Ukrainian border.

According to Ukrinform, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated this on Facebook.

"Yaroslavl, more than 700 kilometers from Ukraine's state border. An oil sector facility that was of great importance for financing Russia's war," Zelensky said.

He thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military intelligence for "this manifestation of justice."

The drone attack on the refinery in Yaroslavl was also confirmed by an OSINT analysis from the Telegram channel ASTRA.

According to the analysis and eyewitness videos, the "Slavneft-YANOS Refinery" caught fire after the attack. The plant had been targeted by drones multiple times before.

"Slavneft-YANOS" is an oil refinery specializing in fuel and lubricants. By volume of hydrocarbon processing, it ranks among the five largest oil refineries in Russia and is the largest oil refining enterprise in Russia's Central Federal District.

YANOS is the main refining asset of PJSC "NGK Slavneft," 99.7% of whose shares are jointly controlled on a parity basis by PJSC "Rosneft" and PJSC "Gazprom."

Residents of another Russian city, Rostov-on-Don, also reported numerous explosions and a fire following the overnight attack. According to the analysis, the fire broke out in the area of the Western Industrial Zone. Many enterprises of various types are located there, including a branch of the Radar Scientific and Technical Center and the Empils paint and coatings plant, which had previously been attacked in January 2026.

"Empils" is one of the key chemical and paint manufacturing plants in southern Russia.

The joint-stock company "Scientific and Technical Center Radar" is engaged in the development and promotion of high-tech technologies. Its primary field of activity is the development and maintenance of special-purpose systems.

The city of Perm was also once again targeted by drones. Local governor Dmitry Makhonin confirmed the attack on the region, stating that "enemy drones struck industrial sites in Perm Krai." According to preliminary information, there were no casualties or injuries.

Overall, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian air defense forces shot down 264 UAVs overnight over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tula, Ulyanovsk, and Yaroslavl regions, Krasnodar Krai, the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Moscow region, and over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.

"Ukraine's long-range sanctions continued in response to Russian strikes on our cities and villages. Russia must choose genuine peace, and only strong pressure will ensure that," the President stressed.

As Ukrinform previously reported, Zelensky stated that as of 07:00 on Friday, April 8, more than 140 shelling attacks on frontline positions and 10 assaults had already been recorded. Russian forces also launched more than 850 drones of various types.
