Ukraine is importing the necessary volumes of fuel, with supply efforts continuing in cooperation with European partners and countries in the Middle East.
According to Ukrinform, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a video address on April 7.
"All global markets are in fact destabilized, and the economic consequences may be significant. We need internal decisions so that Ukraine is provided with everything necessary at this time, and so that we are able to ensure our defense, our economy, and our social needs in the long term. It is important that we have agreements in place for fuel supplies to Ukraine, and now, for March and April, the necessary volumes are being imported. I thank all companies, both state-owned and private. We are also working on supplies with European partners, as well as with countries of the Middle East," Zelensky said.
Zelensky noted that this approach is part of a new model of international cooperation: "Ukraine exports security and receives what it needs for internal confidence and energy security."
He also said that on Tuesday, April 7, a meeting was held with government officials, including the prime minister and representatives of the economic bloc. According to him, the discussion focused, among other things, on the need for a clear domestic response to the current instability, much of which is driven by the ongoing situation around Iran.
"We also discussed with government officials how to support people as prices rise. External instability is always reflected in very sensitive price fluctuations. The Government must prepare steps to address this – I am counting on systemic solutions," Zelensky said.
On March 20, Ukraine launched a partial fuel cost compensation under the National Cashback program.
