Ukraine's General Staff reports overnight fighting on front lines despite truce

A total of 45 combat clashes occurred on the battlefield between 22:00 on 8 May and 08:00 on 9 May, which is an average figure. Since midnight, a three-day truce between Ukraine and Russia has been in effect.

Details: A total of 245 combat clashes have occurred on the battlefield over the past day.

On the North Slobozhanshchyna front and in the operational zone in Russia's Kursk Oblast, Russian forces carried out 35 strikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including one from a multiple-launch rocket system. Ten Russian assaults were recorded.

On the South Slobozhanshchyna front, the Russians launched 15 assaults on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Prylipka, Vovchansk, Lyman and Starytsia and towards Izbytske, Chaikivka and Ternova.

On the Kupiansk front, the Russians conducted an attack towards Radkivka.

On the Lyman front, Russian forces attempted to break through Ukrainian defences eight times towards the settlements of Drobysheve, Zarichne, Stavky, Yampil and Lyman.

On the Sloviansk front, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled two Russian attempts to advance towards the settlements of Rai-Oleksandrivka and Kalenyky.

On the Kramatorsk front, the Russians carried out an attack towards Tykhonivka.

On the Kostiantynivka front, Russian troops carried out 21 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Pleshchiivka, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, Novopavlivka, Toretske and Sofiivka.

On the Pokrovsk front, Ukrainian defenders stopped 37 Russian assaults near the settlements of Novooleksandrivka, Bilytske, Muravka, Zatyshok, Ivanivka, Dorozhnie, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske and Novopidhorodne and towards Serhiivka and Novopavlivka.

On the Oleksandrivka front, Russian forces carried out three attacks near Oleksandrohrad and Vorone.

On the Huliaipole front, Russian soldiers conducted 22 attacks near the settlements of Dobropillia, Zlahoda, Zaliznychne, Bahate and Olenokostiantynivka and towards Nove Zaporizhzhia, Vozdvyzhivka, Staroukrainka and Charivne.

On the Orikhiv front, the Russians carried out an assault near Shcherbaky.

On the Prydniprovske front, the Russians carried out three assaults towards Antonivka.

Background: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that a truce between Ukraine and Russia will be held on 9-11 May, following an earlier announcement by US President Donald Trump.
