Ukrainian drone carrying about five kilograms of explosives found in Estonia by a man mowing his lawn. It had been lying there for a week, undetected.

A local resident mowing grass in the Estonian town of Rõuge found a drone in a field, with an explosive device weighing about five kilograms (roughly 11 pounds) attached to it, said Harris Puusepp, a bureau chief in Estonia’s Security Police.

The resident made the discovery on the evening of June 10.

Puusepp said the man had gone out to mow grass and found the drone in tall grass. “And some parts of the drone were still in a tree nearby — apparently the drone had fallen from there,” he added.

Puusepp said the drone had likely come down on June 3, when Ukraine was attacking Russian territory. Estonian Air Force radars had detected drones at the time, and fighter jets were scrambled to intercept them. The radar contact “disappeared near the spot where the wreckage has since been found,” he said.

In recent months, drones have repeatedly entered the airspace of European countries — primarily Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. Defense officials in those countries say the drones are Ukrainian drones that cross the border because of Russian electronic warfare.

Russia has accused the Baltic states of allowing Ukrainian drones to use their airspace to conduct strikes on Russian regions.
