Air defense forces neutralized 115 of the 129 drones with which Russian invaders attacked Ukraine starting in the evening of July 4.
According to Ukrinform, the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Facebook.
On the night of July 5 (from 18:00 on July 4), the enemy attacked with one Kh-31 anti-radar missile from the Black Sea area, three Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles from the airspace of the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region, and 125 strike UAVs of the Shahed type (including jet-powered ones), Gerbera, Italmas, and imitation drones of the Parodiya type from the directions of Bryansk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, Donetsk in the temporarily occupied territory, and Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defense shot down or suppressed 112 enemy Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones in the north, south, and east of the country, three Kh-59/69 guided missiles, and the Kh-31 anti-radar missile failed to reach its target.
Four strike UAVs were recorded hitting three locations, and debris from downed drones fell at eight locations.
As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky began a trip to Odesa region with a coordination meeting with the command of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during which the security situation in the south, strengthening regional air defense, and enhancing the combat capabilities of the Navy were discussed.
