Iran executed a man who was convicted of collaborating with Israel’s Mossad intelligence service and the US CIA intelligence services, according to a Monday report by Iranian state news outlets Mizan and Tasmin.

Mizan identified the man as Erfan Shakourzadeh, saying he had worked at a scientific organization involved in satellite activities and had shared classified scientific information with foreign intelligence services.

According to the rights group Iran Human Rights Society, Shakourzadeh, a 29-year-old graduate of aerospace engineering, was arrested in 2025 and was forced into his confession.

Iranian state forces reportedly alleged that Shakourzadeh was the first to contact the "enemy agents," according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

“The defendant attempted to contact enemy intelligence services in three stages, the first and third stages being related to the Mossad and the second stage being related to the CIA,Tasnim reported.

Tasmin also stated that the information allegedly exchanged by Shakourzadeh was classified information relating to his work in aerospace engineering.

Iran cracks down on alleged spies, Mossad-linked cells

The announcement comes after Iran's Intelligence Ministry stated that it had dismantled two alleged armed cells associated with Israel's Mossad agency and arrested an individual accused of attempting to transfer classified information about a military site located abroad, according to the Iranian state news agency IRNA on Sunday.

The arrests were carried out across six provinces, according to the ministry’s statement cited by IRNA. One alleged operative was killed during an armed clash, the ministry added.

The ministry said one four-member cell, which it claimed was linked to Mossad, had been preparing to carry out attacks in West Azerbaijan and several Tehran provinces before it was identified and dismantled in Azerbaijan.

A second alleged cell was reportedly in the reconnaissance phase of a planned attack against Iranian military personnel in Kerman and Alborz provinces when it was identified and arrested.

Three members of that cell were detained, and Iranian authorities said they found weapons and espionage equipment at the group’s hideout.

Iran has repeatedly claimed to have arrested individuals linked to Mossad amid its long-running shadow war with Israel. Israel does not typically comment on such claims.
