EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas has responded to Russia's massive combined attack on Kyiv, pledging to propose new sanctions against the aggressor state later today.
According to Ukrinform, Kallas made the announcement in a post on X.
"Words of condemnation alone will not stop attacks on Kyiv. Only sustained military support for Ukraine and increased pressure on Moscow can do that," the EU's top diplomat said.
Kallas noted that earlier this week, the European Union began disbursing €6 billion under the €90 billion support loan to strengthen Kyiv’s defenses.
"Today, I will propose to sanction more entities supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex in response to the strikes. The more Moscow attacks civilians, the more sanctions must be imposed. We keep raising the cost until Russia understands it cannot win," she said.
Kallas also thanked the diplomats at the EU Delegation to Ukraine, praising them for continuing their work "with courage and dedication under the most difficult circumstances."
As reported by Ukrinform, the death toll from Russia's massive combined overnight attack on Kyiv on July 2 has risen to 13.
