Polish Deep-Strike Drone With 1,000-km Range Tested Near Kyiv

A new Polish-made long-range strike drone capable of reaching targets up to 1,000 kilometers away has completed tests near Kyiv and received positive feedback from Ukrainian operators, according to its manufacturer.

Defense technology company FlyFocus said its Striker unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was recently evaluated at a testing range outside the Ukrainian capital.

“The drone was tested at a training ground near Kyiv and received positive reviews from Ukrainian operators,” FlyFocus President Igor Skawiński and COO Albert Świerczyński said in an interview with Polish broadcaster Kanał Telewizyjny.

The Striker belongs to the growing class of so-called deep-strike drones designed to hit high-value targets far behind enemy lines.

The system enters a rapidly expanding market driven by Ukraine’s extensive use of long-range drones against Russian military and energy infrastructure.

With a maximum takeoff weight of 140 kilograms, the drone can be equipped with either a piston engine or a jet engine. It can carry high-explosive fragmentation or thermobaric warheads weighing 40 kg or 60 kg.

According to FlyFocus, the piston-powered version can strike targets at distances of up to 1,000 kilometers while cruising at speeds between 90 and 180 kilometers per hour.

The jet-powered variant offers significantly higher speed, reaching up to 325 kilometers per hour.

“When we present technical specifications for our systems, all of them have been confirmed through testing,” company representatives said.

Russia Must ‘Feel the War It Started,’ Zelensky Says, Ordering Preemptive Strikes on Russian Sites

Ukraine says it is targeting facilities that sustain Russia’s war machine as fuel shortages spread across more than 60 Russian regions.

The drone can navigate to targets using pre-programmed coordinates or employ an electro-optical guidance system linked through a satellite communications channel, allowing operators to identify and engage targets in real time.

FlyFocus said communications with the UAV are encrypted, while launches are conducted from a pneumatic catapult system, eliminating the need for a conventional runway.

Beyond strike missions, the platform can also be configured for reconnaissance operations or used as an aerial target during military training exercises.

The successful testing comes as Ukraine and its partners continue to expand cooperation on long-range drone technologies, a sector that has become increasingly important as both Kyiv and Moscow rely heavily on unmanned systems to project power deep beyond the front lines.
