Russia has successfully tested the Sarmat missile system, Strategic Missile Forces commander Sergei Karakayev reported to President Vladimir Putin, the Russian state news agency TASS reported.
Putin said Sarmat would be placed on combat duty by the end of the current year, calling it the most powerful missile system in the world, with a total yield more than four times that of any Western counterpart.
He also said work on the Poseidon and Burevestnik systems was in its final stages.
Putin announced that Sarmat would soon be placed on combat duty back in 2023. A series of failed tests in 2024, however, has kept that from happening.
