Russian forces conducted a series of attacks across multiple Ukrainian regions on Saturday, June 20, utilizing guided aerial bombs and other munitions against civilian infrastructure, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.

In the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, Russian forces launched nine guided aerial bombs (KABs) targeting civilian infrastructure.

Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Head Ivan Fedorov reported that the strikes caused significant damage, initiating fires and a structural collapse. By Saturday evening, the death toll reached five after rescue workers recovered the body of a woman from the rubble of a private residence.

The State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported that the number of injured individuals had risen to 12.

Following the strikes, local media reported that traffic across the dam of the Dnipro Hydroelectric Station (DniproHES) was suspended.

Bombardment of Sumy

In northeastern Ukraine, Russian forces targeted the northwestern section of the city of Sumy with seven guided aerial bombs on Saturday afternoon.

Serhiy Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration, stated that the attack resulted in the death of one man. The number of injured individuals increased to five, including four women and one man, with two requiring hospitalization.

Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that the strikes damaged at least 20 private residences, alongside infrastructure facilities and a school courtyard.

Strikes on Poltava

Later on Saturday evening, Russian forces struck the Poltava community. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) reported that the attacks killed two people and injured 14 others, including six children.

The strikes caused fires at enterprises across several locations. According to the DSNS, more than 100 rescue personnel and 27 pieces of equipment were deployed to extinguish the fires and contain the damage.

The Ukrainian Air Force had previously issued warnings regarding ballistic missile threats and the approach of a loitering munition toward the Poltava region.

Ongoing aerial assaults

These regional strikes occurred following a large-scale drone assault by Russian forces. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that between Friday evening and Saturday morning, Russia launched 99 attack drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas variants.

Ukrainian air defense units intercepted or suppressed 92 of the incoming drones. However, a drone strike late Friday night on an industrial enterprise in Trostianets, Sumy region, caused a fire and injured two civilians.
