U.S. Central Command forces boarded and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo vessel, sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury, as it attempted to sail into an Iranian port, CENTCOM announced Sunday. USS Spruance (DDG-111), a destroyer in the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, intercepted container ship MV Touska (IMO: 9328900) in the Arabian Sea, according to the CENTCOM release. The ship was allegedly heading to port in Bandar Abbas, Iran. Spruance’s crew called out to the ship multiple times ordering the ship to obey the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports, CENTCOM said. The U.S. said last week that it would seize sanctioned ships.
