A bill to split the attorney general's authority is not like restructuring a company to make it more efficient. It would be the final nail in the coffin of the Attorney General's Office as it has existed since Israel's founding
Earlier this month, the Knesset voted to advance the bill splitting the attorney general's role in two: a government legal adviser, and a prosecutor. The bill was then referred to the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee for preparation ahead of its second and third votes.
