Good morning Middle East Eye readers,

Circulating Israeli reports claim that Washington has informed Tel Aviv that the ceasefire with Iran will expire on Sunday. Earlier, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said US President Donald Trump has not set a timeline for receiving a proposal from Tehran.

Meanwhile, Israeli attacks and demolitions continue in Lebanon despite a 10-day truce that came into effect last Thursday.

Here are the latest developments:

The Pentagon said US Secretary of the Navy John C Phelan is leaving his post "effective immediately", with Undersecretary Hung Cao taking his position.

  • Israeli soldiers are looting large amounts of property from homes and businesses in southern Lebanon, Haaretz reported based on testimonies from sources stationed in the country.

  • The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has slammed Israel for its attack on Lebanese journalists Amal Khalil and Zeinab Faraj in southern Lebanon. The Israeli air strike killed Khalil and wounded Faraj.

  • US forces have directed 31 vessels to turn around or return to port as part of Washington's blockade against Iran, Centcom said in a statement. "The U.S. military has global reach...No ships allowed in or out of Iranian ports," Centcom wrote.

  • At least five people, including three children, were among those killed in an overnight Israeli air strike targeting a group of citizens near al-Qassam Mosque in Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip.
