Details: Polish investigators probing the 9-10 September 2025 drone incursion, almost certainly carried out by Russian Gerbera drones, expect to receive expert reports on the devices by 15 April.

The findings are expected to provide definitive confirmation of what exactly entered Polish territory, how many of the assets were armed with explosives and the threat they posed.

So far, investigators are working with debris found in 24 locations, including a device recently discovered in a mine near the city of Konin, which is believed to have entered Poland during the same period.

Prosecutors are also awaiting confirmation of what caused damage to the roof of a house in the village of Wyrzyki near Lublin. Early assessments suggest it resulted from a failed missile launch from a fighter jet targeting one of the drones.

Background:

  • On 9-10 September, coinciding with a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine, around 20 drones visually resembling Russian Gerberas entered Polish airspace for the first time in significant numbers. Most fell in the Lublin Voivodeship, while some reached central regions of the country.
  • At that time, Polish and allied forces intercepted several drones over Polish territory, identifying them as a clear threat.
