Russia strikes Danube port again, causing damage to infrastructure

Russian forces conducted a strike on a port on the Danube on the night of 16-17 April.

Quote: "Buildings and port infrastructure were damaged, including office, production and utility facilities and sections of railway infrastructure. Small fires were recorded and promptly extinguished."

Details: Fortunately, no casualties have been recorded.

All the appropriate services are currently working at the scene. Information is being confirmed and an assessment of the damage is underway.

The authority noted that the port is operating as normal, taking the security situation into account.

Background:

  • On the night of 13-14 April, a civilian vessel sailing under the Panamanian flag and port infrastructure in the city of Izmail in Odesa Oblast sustained damage as a result of a Russian strike.
  • On the night of 14-15 April, Russian forces launched yet another attack on port infrastructure facilities on the Danube.
