As of the morning of July 8, Russian attacks had left additional consumers without electricity in six Ukrainian regions, while severe weather continued to disrupt power supply to ten settlements in the Khmelnytskyi region.
Ukraine's power grid operator Ukrenergo said this in a Facebook post, Ukrinform reports.
"The enemy continues to attack Ukraine's civilian energy infrastructure. As of this morning, new power outages caused by enemy shelling have been recorded in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Mykolaiv regions. Emergency repair crews are already carrying out restoration work wherever the security situation allows," the statement said.
Thunderstorms and strong winds also left ten settlements in the Khmelnytskyi region fully or partially without electricity. Regional utility crews are repairing damaged power lines.
Electricity consumption as of 09:30 on Wednesday was 4.3% higher than on the previous day. Ukrenergo attributed the increase to cloudy weather across most of Ukraine, which has reduced the efficiency of household solar power systems.
The grid operator advised consumers to use high-power electrical appliances between 11:00 and 15:00, when industrial solar power plants generate electricity most efficiently.
