Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has conceded defeat in the Hungarian election after 16 years in power, with the opposition securing a landslide election win.

Péter Magyar is the country's new prime minister, after record numbers turned out for an election which was seen as pivotal to the future of Hungary and Europe.

Magyar's party is set to win a massive majority in parliament. Vote counting will continue in the coming days.
