What the hell is the purpose of the war in Lebanon, which just hit its two-month anniversary? The commanders in the field are telling journalists that their main mission at the moment is keeping the soldiers safe. That's touching, but keeping soldiers alive is not a military objective. Nor is simply being in enemy territory.
