Had Israel acted rationally following the cease-fire in late 2024, it would have refrained from hunting down Lebanese, coordinated a withdrawal from the territory it had occupied with the Lebanese government and opened the way for the country's reconstruction. But obviously that sounds like a sorry joke

The Israeli toolbox contains only sticks; it doesn't even have a single carrot. For instance, the Israeli media went out of its way to praise the Israeli-Lebanese summit. Yet instead of making a gesture toward the Lebanese delegation, like ceasing fire for a few hours, the government decided to slap it in the face by continuing its airstrikes.
