Gleb Nikitin, Governor of Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, reported on the morning of 5 April that the Kstovo oil refinery and the Novogorkovskaya combined heat and power plant in the region had been damaged as a result of a Ukrainian UAV attack.

Source: Russian Astra Telegram channel, citing Nikitin

Quote from Nikitin: "Overnight, air defence forces repelled an attack by 30 enemy UAVs over the industrial zone of the Kstovo district.

As a result of falling debris, two facilities at the Kstovo refinery sustained damage followed by fires. The fires have been contained. The Novogorkovskaya combined heat and power plant and several residential buildings and plots of land were also damaged.

Power supply to consumers is currently being restored."

Details: No casualties were reported.

Astra verified video footage from social media showing a glow over the refinery following the strike.

For reference: The Kstovo refinery is one of Russia's leading oil refineries and plays an important role in supplying the Moscow region.

Its primary oil processing capacity is about 17 million tonnes per year. The plant produces more than 50 types of products, including petrol, aviation fuel and diesel fuel, as well as oil bitumen, paraffins and other petroleum products.

Background: Earlier, authorities in Russia's Leningrad Oblast reported a drone attack involving 19 UAVs and damage to an oil pipeline near the port of Primorsk.
