Presidential Office Chief Budanov Expects High-Level US Delegation in Kyiv After Easter

The head of the President’s Office, Kyrylo Budanov, expects a high-level US delegation to arrive in Kyiv following the Easter holidays, Bloomberg reported on Sunday, April 5.

The delegation, reportedly led by US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, is expected to visit the Ukrainian capital after April 12. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham may also join the group.

“Kushner, Witkoff, Lindsey Graham – those are the ones expected to come. Who else will be there – we’ll see,” Budanov said.

According to Budanov, the visit could lead to more substantial security guarantees for Ukraine. “We set out what we wanted a long time ago. I think it will be implemented soon,” he noted, adding that “on security guarantees, we have definitely made progress.”

Budanov revealed that international allies have requested that Ukraine cease regular airstrikes on Russian oil refineries due to surging global oil and fuel prices triggered by the Middle East war.

The upcoming visit follows a second day of talks in Florida on March 23, where Witkoff and Kushner met with Ukrainian representatives. While Russian officials were absent from those discussions, President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that diplomacy continues to focus on humanitarian issues, such as prisoner swaps.

However, formal trilateral negotiations between Russia, the US, and Ukraine remain on hold. While the Kremlin confirmed that contacts with Kyiv are limited to humanitarian matters, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi stated that broader consultations have been “delayed, but not canceled.”
