Russia gasoline and diesel prices rose again in late June, Rosstat data show

Gasoline prices in Russia climbed 1.6% and diesel prices rose 2.2% in the week of June 23–29, according to Rosstat’s weekly data on rising fuel prices in the country. The Bell was among the first to report the release.

Average consumer gasoline prices stood at 72.38 rubles per liter as of June 29. A liter of AI-92 cost 68.76 rubles, AI-95 cost 74.38 rubles, and AI-98 or higher cost 97.15 rubles.

Gasoline prices rose most sharply in occupied Sevastopol, up 30%. In Moscow and the Moscow region, prices fell — by 0.7% and 1.6%, respectively, Rosstat said.

Gasoline prices across Russia are rising nationwide amid a fuel crisis set off by Ukrainian drone strikes on oil facilities in Russia and Crimea.

A day earlier, The Bell reported that the government had removed consumer price data on petroleum products from its Federal Statistical Work Plan. The outlet concluded that Rosstat would stop publishing data on fuel-price trends.

But Rosstat said it would continue to publish fuel price data in full. Agency representatives said they had removed duplicate entries from the plan.

The agency had previously concealed other data of public importance, such as figures on inequality.
